Kathy Matulis of Cohoes was discussing the organic heirloom seeds, handmade cold process soaps, and aftershave that Jen O'Connor of Altamont makes and sells. She says she and her business, called The Little Ragamuffin, benefit greatly from the supportive community she finds at The Foundry. The cold processed method we use to produce soaps is old fashioned that uses limited energy and is better for the environment."
Among the artists who were both selling and demonstrating their respective crafts was illustrator Mark Gregory. Gregory worked purposely on a caricature of Mary LaFleur of North Greenbush, who did her best to remain still as Gregory sketched quickly. For the artists represented at the Foundry event, it's not just focusing on selling the artwork. Sparrow said "For artists like myself, selling my art is not the most important thing; making the art is. I utilize many of my creative talents to make room in my life to make that happen. That's really what we're about, educating artists, the general public, and the business community on how to work with artists, how to really truly support them so that at the end of the day, their art making can continue to happen."

Matulis said, "I was so excited to come today, because I had the feeling there'd be a lot of talented people and one of a kind things here.
